Clippers Battle Back To Beat Grizzlies 115-106
- Updated: January 4, 2017
After snapping their losing streak Monday against the Suns the Clippers (24-14) hoped to carry that momentum over to this matchup against their rival Memphis Grizzlies (22-16).
Early on it was a defensive showdown. The two squads played so close there was only one point separating them at the end of the first quarter.
It was quarter number two where Memphis started to find their rhythm. Marc Gasol was hitting from beyond the arc and only Austin Rivers had found his stroke offensively. Rivers’ game seemed to never slow Wednesday night finishing up with 28 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists having one of his best performances of the season. His moves and long range were leaving even a veteran like Mike Conley in the dust.

It would be the emergence of DeAndre Jordan that helped the Clippers fight their way back in the fourth quarter. Jordan was a monster on the boards and wound up with another double-double to add to his tally with 18 points and 20 rebounds on the night.
Jordan wasn’t the only clutch performer in the final quarter however. The “sixth man” Jamal Crawford caught fire right when his team needed it. Crawford closed it out with 22 points off the bench and most of those came with the game on the line.
A massive 115-106 win for this ailing Los Angeles team against a playoff bound Memphis team playing at full strength.
The Clippers will head to Sacramento Friday to take on their Pacific Division foes the Kings.
