Clippers Lose Fourth Straight With Loss To Pelicans

Clippers

Coming off a rough three game losing streak the Los Angeles Clippers (22-12) took on a New Orleans Pelicans (13-21) team hoping to revitalize their underwhelming season.

Despite some rough travels for DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul preceding the team’s flight to New Orleans that saw the pair involved in a traffic accident they would play in the contest. Los Angeles was certainly glad they did.

It was Jordan that got off to a hot start for the Clippers notching a double-double in just the first quarter with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The big man would end the night with 13 points and 25 rebounds far overpowering his tough matchup of Anthony Davis whom only had 20 points and 5 rebounds.

Chris Paul was on triple-double watch for a time as even in his shortened minutes due to his previous injury he put together a stellar statistical performance of 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

However the Pelicans got a strong performance from an unexpected character. Buddy Hield was the team’s second leading scorer behind Davis with 17 points and a pretty stretch in the third quarter that saw him knock in 2 three-pointers on consecutive trips got him going.

Hoping to energize a Clippers club that was starting to look flat offensively in the fourth quarter Marreese Speights delivered home a thunderous jam that hopefully would awaken his squad.

It didn’t. Los Angeles began to slide after this bucket trailing by as much as 10 but it certainly wasn’t the fault of Speights, who had 11 points and 4 rebounds coming off the bench in this one.

Despite a late comeback the Clippers would fall to the Pelicans 102-98.

After the ejection of their Head Coach Alvin Gentry in the first quarter when he received back to back technicals this was a big win for the young New Orleans club.

For Los Angeles this is a fourth straight loss and it’s very clear that injuries are negatively effecting this team in this rough stretch of December.

Los Angeles will travel to Houston to take on the Rockets Friday at 5 PM PST.
