The Los Angeles Lakers slow start doomed them as the Orlando Magic handed Los Angeles their 12th loss in the last 13 games. While Orlando was having a block party on Church Street, Los Angeles found themselves down 30-14 at the end of the first quarter.

Los Angeles was down by as many as 25 at one point in the first half but entered the locker down 57-40. The club didn’t give up cutting the lead to as little as 6 at one point but could never get that final push.

The Lakers who were without Larry Nance Jr., Julius Randle, and Tarik Black were forced to use smaller lineups most of the night. Luol Deng recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

D’Angelo Russell added 15 points with Jordan Clarkson led the team in scoring with 18. Lou Williams chipped in 13 off the bench.

For Orlando Elfird Payton shot the ball extremely well. He led all scorers with 25 points and had 9 assists off the bench. Serge Ibaka added a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

C.J. Watson, D.J. Augustine, and Nikola Vucevic each reached double figures with 11 points.

Los Angeles will now head back to Staples to take on the Clippers on Christmas Day.
