Chargers Lose A Close Game To Raiders, 19-16
- Updated: December 19, 2016
The San Diego Chargers dropped another close one to the Oakland Raiders, 19-16 officially eliminating them from the playoff chase. Now all signs are pointing north to Los Angeles for a possible move of the team.
They got on the scoreboard first, as Philip Rivers connected with Travis Benjamin on a 47-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. Josh Lambo hit a 35-yard field goal with over a minute left in the first half to give the team the lead but the defense allowed the Raiders to score with .22 seconds left in the half to even the score at 10.
In the third quarter, Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski gave the Raiders their first lead of the game, hitting a 33-yard field goal. The Chargers regained the lead when Rivers found tight end Hunter Henry on a 7-yard pass. The Raiders added two more field goals to close out the scoring at 19-16.
BOLT NOTES:
Without Melvin Gordon, the Chargers running game only gained 73 yards rushing. Kenny Farrow and Ronnie Hillman split the duties. Gordon should be available for the teams next game.
NEXT UP FOR THE CHARGERS:
The Bolts (5-9) are heading to Cleveland for a Christmas eve match up with the Browns. The Browns are currently 0-14 and are two games away from a winless perfect season.
