Yasiel Puig Won’t Opt Into Arbitration

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig will not opt into arbitration this offseason.
Abreu opted in to arb, seeking higher salaries. Puig did not; he will still earn $6.5M in ’17 and $7.5M in ’18, and be arb-eligible in ’19.

Rosenthal continued.
Puig also received a $12M signing bonus as part of his original $42M deal, spread over seven years.

Puig had an up and down year which saw him spend time in the minors for part of the year. Puig played in 104 games for the Dodgers this season and hit .263.
He battled injuries and ended up with 11 homeruns and 45 RBI’s. Los Angeles will need more out of Puig next season. His name was involved in multiple trade rumors.
