Angels Beat Oakland, 8-6

‏@angels_fanly

The Los Angeles Angels held off a late eight-inning rally to beat the Oakland A’s 8-6.

Another big inning helped the Angels prevail with the victory, but it might be costly. Mike Trout was hit in the shoulder by A’s reliever John Axford. Trout is listed as Day to Day for the final three games of the season.

Kole Calhoun‘s two-run homer in the fourth inning extended the Angels lead to 6-2 and was the turning point in the game.
A.J Achter (W,1-0) picked up his first win of the season in relief. Halos starter Alex Meyer only went four innings, allowing two runs and striking out four.

HALO’s DUGOUT:

Now with Mike Trout out of the lineup and the possibility of Albert Pujols not returning this season, the Angels will need to provide some firepower to stay competitive for the final three games of the season.

ANGELS ON DECK:

The final series of the season will be played between the Halos (72-87) and the Houston Astros (83-76). Daniel Wright (0-5, 6.95 ERA) will start for the Halos. Wright will be in search for his first career win. The Astros will start Brad Peacock (0-0, 2.67 ERA), both starters are career relievers. The Halos will start the final series of the season looking to improve their record in the standings. They are currently in fourth place in the American League West.
