Angels Get Edged Out By A’s, 3-2.

The Oakland A’s evened the score in the second game of the series with the Angels, after a 3-2 win.

The Angels continued to play pretty well, but this game slipped away in the eighth inning. Ricky Nolasco (L,5-13), took the loss, despite another good outing. Nolasco took a shutout into the seventh inning, as the team had a two-run lead. The seventh inning performance was eighth time this season that Nolasco had completed at least five full innings pitched.

The Angels had only one big inning in this game, the fourth. The team scored twice. Shortstop Andrelton Simmions doubled to right scoring Mike Trout to give the Angels their first run of the game. Kaleb Cowart’s sac-fly to left field scored Albert Pujols, but Simmions was gunned out trying to advance to third.

HALO’s DUGOUT:

Ricky Nolasco has been pitching well of late, but he hasn’t had the run support. In the past five games (1-4), the team has failed to score three runs.

ANGELS ON DECK:

The rubber game will be played in Oakland this afternoon. Alex Meyer (0-1, 12.27 ERA), will make his second career start for the Angels. Jharel Cotton (0-0, 0.00 ERA), just called up from Triple-A Nashville, will make his major league debut for the A’s. The Halos (62-76), still hold a three-game lead over the A’s for fourth place in the American League West. The Texas Rangers are still on top of the division.
