Chargers Release Zach Mettenberger

According to Rand Getlin of the NFL Network the San Diego Chargers have released backup quarterback Zach Mettenberger.

Derek Togerson of NBC San Diego confirmed the news.

Mettenberger is a former 6th round pick of the 2014 NFL draft by the Tennessee Titans. He was waived by the club and brought to San Diego to reunite him with Ken Whisenhunt.
Mettenberger struggles in his lone appearance this preseason and the Chargers decided to cut ties with the backup quarterback. San Diego will continue their preseason this Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers.
