Cron’s Two Homers Lifts Angels Over Reds, 4-2
- Updated: August 31, 2016
Make it four wins in a row for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, as they beat the Cincinnati Reds, 4-2.
C.J. Cron wasted no time in the bottom of the first inning hitting a two-run bomb that scored Mike Trout. Cron also hit a solo shot in the third inning, while extending the lead to 3-0. The first baseman now has hit three homers in the past two games, since his return from the disabled list on August 20th.
Jared Weaver (W,10-11), picked up win number ten for the season. Weaver struck out five on eight hits while giving up a two-run homer in the seventh inning.
HALO’S ON DECK:
The Angels bullpen was outstanding, in 2-2/3 innings, they were able to close the door on any possible Reds comeback. Fernando Salas (S,6), picked up his sixth save of the season, even though he needed twenty pitches to close them out.
ANGELS ON DECK:
The team will be looking for win number five, as they will conclude their series with Cincinnati Reds.
Ricky Nolasco (4-12, 5.24 ERA) will be seeking his first victory in an Angels uniform. He will be opposed by Brandon Finnegan (8-9, 4.27 ERA). The Angels (58-74) have leaped over the Oakland A’s and are currently in fourth place, 20.5 games behind the Texas Rangers in the American League West.
