Angels Lose The Season Series With Cubs
- Updated: August 11, 2016
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have now lost six in a row, and the season series with the Chicago Cubs. The offense was unable to score more than two runs, and the end result was a 3-1 loss.
One run seems to be the normal theme for the Halos in the past three games. This offense has been running on fumes and hasn’t been able to gain any momentum. Albert Pujols drove in the team’s only run on a groundout in the eighth inning, that scored Kole Calhoun.
Ricky Nolasco (L,4-9), took the loss and had some decent moments in this game. Nolasco completed six full innings of work, striking out six, giving up only two earned runs on one-hundred and two pitches thrown.
HALOS DUGOUT:
The Angels started the season with the Cubs and were swept in Los Angeles as well. The Cubs outscored the Angels in the four games, 23-3. Good news for the team, according to ESPN, Garrett Richards will begin throwing next as he will try to avoid Tommy John surgery. Richards will not return this season, but will undergo stem-cell treatments to try to bypass on the surgury route.
ANGELS ON DECK:
The team will head to Cleveland to start a four-game series with the Indians. Jhoulys Chacin (3-7, 5.27 ERA) will start for the Angels, Corey Kluber (11-8, 3.16 ERA) will take the mound for Cleveland.
The Angels (49-64) are now in the middle of their third six-game losing streak of the season. They have now fallen eighteen full games behind the leaders in the American League West.
