Cubs Get Past the Angels, 5-1
- Updated: August 10, 2016
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim faced off with the Chicago Cubs for the second time this season. The Cubs take this one, 5-1.
The red-hot Cubs have now won eight-straight games as they picked up their 70th win of the season. The Halos have now dropped five-straight games as they have moved into a tie with A’s for the basement of the American League West.
Jered Weaver (L,8-9), dropped below .500 again, as he allowed five runs, four earned, three strikeouts and two homers off the Cubs bats. The Angels only run came off the bat of Kole Calhoun in the top of the first inning. Calhoun was the only Angels player to have two of the team’s three hits.
HALO’S DUGOUT:
The team was completely shut down by John Lackey. Give the guy credit, the Halos was probably just jet-lagged in the one.
ANGELS ON DECK:
The final game this season with the Chicago Cubs will be played tomorrow night at 5:05 PST from Wrigley. The Halos (49-63), opened the season at home against this same team. Ricky Nolasco (4-8, 5.23 ERA), will take the hill for the Halos. Jason Hammel (11-5, 3.07 ERA), will start for the Cubs.
