- Updated: August 3, 2016
The Los Angeles Dodgers fell to the Colorado Rockies, 12-2. Dodgers pitching gave up five home runs to their division rivals in a blowout loss.
CALL UPS AND DOWNS
Brock Stewart made his second start for the Dodgers this season. The 24-year old righty was hit by the long ball, giving up 4 home runs to a potent Rockies lineup. His night ended with the line: 4 IP 10 H 9 ER 1 BB 1 K
Josh Fields, who was the last acquisition from the trade deadline, pitched in relief in the 5th inning. He gave up a hit and a walk with one strikeout.
Julio Urias, who was called back to the Dodgers in a series of moves prior to the game, pitched three innings in relief. He gave up three runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one batter.
BOMBS AWAY
Justin Turner gave the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, hitting an opposite-field home run for his 19th home run of the year.
However, the lead was for naught, as the Rockies use two home runs by Nolan Arenado and Mark Reynolds to regain the lead at 5-2. D.J. LeMahieu and Carlos Gonzalez (2) also hit home runs to break the game open at Coors Field.
LEFTY STRUGGLES
Prior to the game, the Dodgers are hitting .224 against left-handed pitching. They continued to struggle tonight as Tyler Andersen held them to two runs over seven strong innings, striking out six batters.
Los Angeles failed to score after the 1st inning, as they only racked up six hits to the Rockies’ seventeen.
The Dodgers will face Tyler Chatwood (10-6, 3.50 ERA) tomorrow, trying to avoid a sweep. First pitch is at 5:40 PM PST on SportsNet LA.
