Angels drop to Astros, 7-2

‏@angels_fanly

The Los Angeles Angels dropped a 7-2 decision to the Houston Astros on Saturday, plating only two runs all night.

Jered Weaver was roughed up for six earned runs over only four innings of work, taking his eighth loss of the season (8-8) and raising his ERA to a somewhat brutal 5.32. Jhoulys Chacin did a nice job out of the bullpen for Los Angeles, bridging the gap between the four innings Weaver worked and the remainder of the game. Chacin tossed four frames of one-run ball; a very impressive performance.

For the Astros, Collin McHugh was very good, allowing two earned runs over six inning and earning his seventh victory of the season (7-6). McHugh’s season ERA currently sits at 4.18. Houston got three very good innings out of their bullpen, shutting the door on a potential Angels comeback and handing Los Angeles their second loss in as many games.

Los Angeles’ two runs came on Jo-Man Choi’s eighth home run of the season and on an RBI single by Andrelton Simmons. The Angels are in action on Sunday for the third and final game of this three game series with the Houston Astros before taking off for Kansas City and the Royals tomorrow.
