Brandon Bass Switches Locker Rooms In Staples

Bass

Joining forces with Wesley Johnson who made the same switch last offseason, former Laker Power Forward Brandon Bass will walk across the hall and join the rival Clippers.

Bass, 31, is an ideal fit for the Clippers system. Having played for Coach Doc Rivers in Boston he already knows what he’ll be walking into as far as schemes are concerned.

Signing former Celtics seems to be quite a pattern for the ex-Celtics Head Coach Rivers. However this signing certainly makes more sense than some others. Bass is a big with some shooting range, something Los Angeles has lacked in years past.

Last season with the other team from Los Angeles, Bass knocked in 7.2 points and nabbed 4.3 rebounds while getting 20.3 minutes per game. This seems especially important because it seems unlikely he’ll average more minutes than he did last season.

It is also rumored that he chose the Clippers over the San Antonio Spurs, which would mean one of a few things. 1, he didn’t think he would get any playing time in San Antonio with their deep forward rotation. 2, a free agent legitimately chose the Clippers over the Spurs. The latter sounds better so we’ll go with that one. However the Clippers big man rotation has some depth itself.

With the offseason additions of rookie Brice Johnson and Mo Speights, signing another big was unexpected. Not to mention if veteran Paul Pierce plans on returning next season (Please for God’s sake let us know soon Paul). This move has led some to believe the future hall of famer will not be making his way back to the league for one last go around, but that’s a whole different story.  This deal though, does seem to be one too good to pass up as again Rivers was able to secure a solid bench presence for a fair price.

Another solid veteran signing for the Clippers that should have an immediate impact on this team’s depth and leadership.
