Angels Use Broom To Sweep Away White Sox, 8-1
- Updated: July 18, 2016
The Angels win their third straight, as they sweep the White Sox in the finale of this series, 8-1.
Impressive win today for the Halos, as they build on the momentum from the All-Star break. The Angels outscored the White Sox 16-1 in their sweep and no look forward to take on the division-leading Texas Rangers in a three-game series which starts tomorrow night in Anaheim.
Albert Pujols hit a pair of two-run homers, number’s 16 and 17 for the season while driving in half of the Angels runs. Jared Weaver (W,8-7), improved his record, to get over the .500 mark for the second time this season. Weaver kept the Sox off the scoreboard until the third inning, in which the Sox finally scored their lone run of this series. Only one strikeout for Weaver, but he completed seven full innings on only eighty-six pitches thrown.
HALO’S DUGOUT:
The team did their damage in the fourth and fifth innings of this one, and we can’t overlook the work of Ji-Man Choi. The rookie first baseman collected his first Major League RBI. Congratulations Rook, there will be more to come.
ANGELS ON DECK:
CRUNCHTIME: As mentioned earlier, there are some tough games upcoming. The team will start a series with the Texas Rangers, who are currently leading the American League West. Game one of this series will feature Nick Tropeano (3-2, 3.12 ERA), for the Angels. A.J. Griffin (3-1, 3.81 ERA), will be the starter for Texas. The next six games will feature the Angels against some divisional foes. The team will make strides toward staying out of the basement of the division.
