Dodgers Top Diamondbacks In Slugfest
- Updated: July 16, 2016
The Dodgers used a five-run fourth to overcome a one-run deficit on Friday, en route to an easy 13-7 victory.
Bud Norris was not at his best but did just enough to earn his fifth victory of the season. He allowed four earned runs over five innings of work, striking out five along the way. Patrick Corbin got roughed up for the Diamondbacks, getting lit up for six earned runs and lasting only four innings.
Justin Turner got the scoring started in the top of the first inning on his 14th bomb of the season, giving LA a brief 1-0 lead. The Dodgers added another in the top of the third, but the 2-0 lead didn’t last long thanks to a three-run bottom of the third for Arizona.
Trailing 3-2 in the top of the fourth, the Dodgers used a two-run triple by Taylor, an RBI single by Kendrick, and a two-run single by Puig to plate five and take a 5-3 lead that they would never give up. A three-run bomb by Taylor in the sixth put this one out of reach, and when it was all said and done, the Dodgers had earned their fourth consecutive victory, this one by a final score of 13-7.
Pedro Baez, J.P. Howell, and Chris Hatcher were all very good out of the Dodgers’ bullpen, but Casey Fien got lit up for three earned runs and recorded only one out. Chris Taylor finished a single shy of the cycle, going 3-5 with a double, triple, and HR.
The Dodgers sit 5.5 games back of the first place Giants as we enter the day on Saturday.
