Angels Fall On Independence Day 4-2

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim fell to the Tampa Bay Rays on Independence day 4-2 in Tampa, Florida. For Anaheim they have now lost three of their last four games.
For the Rays, Matt Moore got the start. He pitched 6.2 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 3 and gave up 1 home run as he picked up his 5th win of the year.
In the Halos side Nick Tropeano got the start. He pitched 5 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 4 and gave up 2 home runs as he was awarded a no decision for his efforts.
The offense got started in the 3rd inning. Brad Miller hit his 12th home run of the year, a solo shot to right that gave Tampa a 1-0 lead.
Anaheim answered back in the 4th inning when Andrelton Simmons hit a RBI double that brought in Jefry Marte. This tied the score at 1-1.
Logan Morrison hit a solo shot in the 4th inning for the Rays. For Morrison it was his 9th bomb of the season. Marte added a solo shot of his own in the 6th inning. It was Marte’s 5th home run of the year and tied the game at 2-2.
Tampa scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. Morrison hit a RBI single to left field that brought in Miller. Steven Souza followed with a RBI double and Tampa took control with a 4-2 advantage.
Ryan Garton came on in the 9th inning and retired two batters to get his first save of the year. Tampa and Anaheim will continue their series tonight at 4:10 p.m. PST
