Clippers & Lakers Lose Out On Josh Smith

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Houston Rockets have connected with Josh Smith and will sign later today.
Josh Smith has committed to signing with the Houston Rockets, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. He clears waivers at 5 PM today.

Josh Smith was cut from the Pistons on Monday after Stan Van Gundy no longer needed his services. He is still trying to make the team his own after taking over this year.
The deal makes sense for the Rockets because they are able to offer more money than most other teams involved. They also still have their bi-annual exception which is likely the money Smith will receive. The Rockets also will likely start Josh Smith where he can play along side his good friend Dwight Howard.
The Rockets will look to control Josh Smith’s shooting. The Rockets will likely send the much-improved Donatas Motiejunas to the bench. No word on Terrence Jones‘ role once he can resume basketball activity.
