Angels Lose To Astros Again, 10-4

@Angels

The losses are starting to mount up for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, as they lost again to the Houston Astros, 10-4.

Eight wins and one defeat is currently the record for the Houston Astros this season versus the Halos . At this point of the season, the team should be looking for some answers to some very pressing questions.

Jose Altuve was a total menace today, collecting four hits and driving in a run. The Astros pounded out twelve hits; seven came off of Angels Starter Jered Weaver (L,6-7). Weaver’s six earned runs; this was the third time this season that he has given up six or more in his sixteen starts.

Jett Brandy got the Angels on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second, with his second homer of the season. The inning continued when Kole Calhoun tripled to right field that scored Johnny Giavotella. The Angels had their chances, but the Astros offense just kept on rolling. The team managed to get large numbers in the bottom of the fifth and the eighth, but the margin of victory was out of reach.

HALOS DUGOUT:

One of the biggest questions is runners on base. The Angels left twelve runners on base and went one for eleven with runners in scoring position. Stranding runners and missed opportunities have been hurting this team all season long.

ANGELS ON DECK:

The Angels (32-47), will get a day off and will travel to Fenway Park to take on the Boston Red Sox in a three-game weekend series. Jhoulys Chacin (2-4, 5.77 ERA), will take the ball in game one. The Red Sox will counter with Steven Wright (8-5, 2.18 ERA), who has been excellent for the Sox this season.

The woes for the Halos has to end soon; the team has now lost nine of the last ten games and they are currently in the cellar of the American League West, now 19.5 games behind the Texas Rangers.
