Dodgers Lose 3rd Consecutive Game

@Dodgers

Sunday’s game was odd, to say the least for the Dodgers.

Clayton Kershaw was on the mound. We’ve grown to expect a dominant performance from Kershaw every time he gets the ball, but that wasn’t the case last night. He was able to work through 6 tough innings in which he allowed 4 runs, and ended up taking only his second loss of the season (11-2). The Pirates used a 4 run 2nd inning to draw first blood and give themselves a 4-0 lead, but LA would go on to score 3 unanswered runs to make things interesting. All 3 runs came off the bat of Justin Turner, who went 2-3 with a 2 run shot and 3 RBI’s.

With Pittsburgh up 4-3 in the 9th, Mark Melancon came into the game for the Pirates and sat LA down in order, sending the Dodgers to their 3rd straight loss. Chad Kuhl was solid in his MLB debut for Pittsburgh, tossing 5 innings of 3 run ball and getting his first career win.

The Dodgers are 8 games back of the Giants in the NL West and will wrap up their series with the Pirates today.
