Padres Lose At Home To Baltimore 11-7

Padres

Ubaldo Jimenez picked up his second win over the Padres this season, as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Padres again, 11-7.

DeJa-Vu or Groundhog’s Day? Last week the Orioles and Padres got together in Baltimore and the same pitchers matched-up for the finale of the brief two-game set. Starter Erik Johnson (L,0-6), had another bad outing, this time allowing four earned runs on seven hits. The Oriole bats was another problem for Johnson, as he allowed two homers and he has now given up fourteen for the season.

Melvin Upton Jr. got the Friars even in the bottom of the second inning, with a solo-shot to centerfield. Upton also made the play of the year, when he robbed JJ Hardy of a homer in the top of the second inning, to complete a double play. The Orioles scored ten runs from innings four through six, which included seven runs in that sixth inning. The Padres produced runs in the seventh, capped off by a three-run homer off the bat of Wil Myers. The Padres added three more in the bottom of the ninth inning on a two-run double by pinch-hitter Adam Rosales that scored Myers and Travis Jankowski. Yangervis Solarte ended the scoring for the night when, he drove in Rosales.

FRIARS CORNER:

Will Myers hit his eighteenth homer of the season, eleven of them has been hit in the month of June. Myers is now holds the club mark for home runs in the month of June. He surpassed the previous mark of ten set by Greg Vaughan back in 1998.
