In the fourth inning, Derek Norris connected on a Tyler Wilson fastball, for his ninth homer of the season and even the game at two. The Orioles regained the lead in the fourth and added another in the fifth innings on solo homers by Pedro Alverez, both were off Padres starter Louis Perdomo.

The turning point in this game was the seventh inning, The Padres erased a three-run deficit and took back the lead for good. Insurance runs are very important, both the pitching and the offense came through in the ninth inning, as the team added three more runs and Kevin Quakenbush (W,5-3), Brad Hand (H,3), Ryan Bucther (H,11), and Fernando Rodney (S,15), came in and held the Orioles in check to preserve the victory.
