Dodgers Drop Back to Back heartbreakers To Giants

@SFGiants

After taking game 1 of the 3 game series from the Giants on Friday night, everything collapsed for the Dodgers, and LA is suddenly looking at a 5 game deficit in the NL West.

On Saturday, the Dodgers and Giants went to extras tied 3-3. LA took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 10th on a solo shot by Adrian Gonzalez, but it wasn’t enough. San Francisco used a 2 run bottom of the 10th to walk off with a 5-4 win over the Dodgers, evening the series at 1 game apiece.  Kenley Jansen was charged with the blown save and was the losing pitcher.

On Sunday, the Dodgers lost another close 1 run game. Scoreless in the bottom of the 6th inning, SF plated their first runs of the day on a 2 run shot by Brandon Belt off Julio Urias. Urias was pulled in the 6th after giving up the bomb, but was otherwise very good for back to back games for the first time in his big league career. The Dodgers got one back in the 7th on a home run by Joc Pederson, but the game would go final by a score of 2-1 and SF won the series, 2-1.

After a promising start to the weekend, Los Angeles now finds themselves in a 5 game hole in the division, and have some ground to make up. LA will start a 3 game set with the Diamondbacks on Monday night.
