Thaiss won the 2015 college World Series with the club last season. This year he lead the team in batting average hitting .375.
Thaiss went to Twitter to show his excitement about being drafted.
It’s an honor to be drafted by the @Angels, can’t thank my family, @UVABaseball, and teammates enough for getting me here

Thaiss has shown good power throughout his collegiate career and is open to playing other positions. It would make sense for Thaiss to move over to the corners of the infield with the Angels taking a catcher in last year’s draft Taylor Ward.
