Myers’ Power Not Enough, Padres Fall 4-2

Wil Myers hit two home runs but it wasn’t enough and the San Diego Padres fell to the Atlanta Braves 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
For the Padres Drew Pomeranz got the start. He pitched 5 innings allowing 9 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 6 and walked 1 but picked up his 6th loss of the season.
On the other side Julio Teheran got the start. He pitched 8 strong innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs. He walked 1 and struck out 8 as he picked up his 2nd win of the year.
The offense got started in the first inning when Freddie Freeman hit a sacrifice fly to left field that brought in Ender Inciarte. Nick Markakis followed with a RBI single to left that brought in Chase d’Arnaud and the Braves held a 2-0 lead after one.
In the fourth inning Teheran singled to center field and brought in Daniel Castro to push the lead to 3-0.
Myers hit a solo shot to left center to put the Padres on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. d’Arnaud hit a RBI double in the 6th inning to push the lead back to three, 4-1.
Myers hit his second homerun of the game in the bottom of the 6th inning to cut the lead to 4-2 but that was all the offense the Padres could muster up.
Arodys Vizcaino came on in the 9th inning and shut the club down for his 7th save of the year.
