Recap: Dodgers 4, Mets 2 – Kershaw Denied Win, Sets Record

Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw has been so great in the month of May that his game line of 7.2 innings pitched, 4 hits 2 earned runs, 0 walks  and 11 strikeouts is actually kind of a disappointment but that’s just how unreal he has been. He also set the record for reaching 100 strikeouts with the lowest amount of walks, five.

So to the game, after all the drama of the first two games, last night’s game was actually kind of boring. The only drama was Clayton Kershaw being taken out of the middle of an inning for the first time and the crazy thing is it was vs a left hander. I understand that a fresh pitcher is almost always better than tired pitcher but this was Clayton Kershaw, you let him finish that inning especially with 2 outs. The move looked even worse after Curtis Granderson hit a triple off the wall after a near incredible Puig catch.

That triple tied the score and denied Kershaw the win, which didn’t make him all too happy but Adam Liberatore was bailed out in the top of the 9th after Jeurys Familia came in another non-save situation this series and the Dodgers got to him after a Kike Hernandez single and walks to Corey Seager and Justin Turner brought the butter and eggs man Adrian Gonzalez up with 1 out and the bases loaded and he delivered as we all knew he would bringing the score to 4-2 and that was all Kenley Jansen would need to finish the game quickly in the bottom of the 9th.

The next game will be on Memorial Day at 2:05PM Pacific vs the Chicago Cubs in Chicago, this will be a real test of how well the team has been playing lately.

Here are your match ups:

LAD: Alex Wood (1-3 , 4.03 ERA)

CHC: Jason Hammel (6-1 , 2.17 ERA)
