- Updated: May 14, 2016
Los Angeles Kings head coach Darryl Sutter reached a contract extension with the organization earlier this week. The details of that extension surfaced yesterday.
Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com reported the news.
Sutter’s new deal with LA, paying north of $3M of year, is a club option on 3rd yr but gets paid some of 3rd yr even if option not picked up

He added his thoughts on the contract.
Which is to say he’s guaranteed some money in third year even if that option year isn’t picked up. Good deal for Sutter.

Jon Rosen of lakingsinsider.com reported some details as well.

Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register weighed in on the extension.
Darryl Sutter signs new contract. Real question is whether Chris Sutter will hold out for more $. He should.

For Sutter he will be in Los Angeles for at least the next two years. The Kings have a lot of roster decisions to make over these next few months with limited salary cap flexibility.
What expects to be a busy summer for general manager Dean Lombardi, he re-signed his first free agent in Sutter. As more information surfaces on the Kings and their offseason news we will keep you up to date.
