Yeo played hockey in the OHL, IHL, and AHL throughout a ten year career. After his playing days were over he became a assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins where he won a ring in 2009.
From there he became the head coach of the Minnesota Wild. He was there for four years before getting fired in year number five. He made the playoffs in three of the four years losing to the Chicago Blackhawks each year.
