Mets Beat Dodgers 4-2

The New York Mets used a big night from Curtis Granderson to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 on Monday night.

For the Mets Steven Matz got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 5 batters and walked 1 as he picked up his 5th win of the year.

On the other side Scott Kazmir got the start. He pitched 5.2 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 runs, 3 earned. He struck out 6 but walked 4 and gave up 2 home runs. For his efforts he was awarded his third loss of the year.

The offense got started in the first inning for the Mets. Granderson hit a solo shot to right field to put New York on the board 1-0.

In the second inning Kevin Plawecki hit a solo shot to left field and the Mets held a 2-0 advantage. Yoenis Cespedes added to the fire when he hit a RBI single in the third inning. After three the Mets were up 3-0.

It was Trayce Thompson in the bottom of the 4th inning that would be the Dodgers only offense. Thompson hit a two run shot that brought in Justin Turner and LA cut the lead to 3-2.

Matz helped his own cause in the 6th inning with a RBI double that brought in Wilmer Flores and New York held a 4-2 lead.

Jeurys Familia came on in the 9th inning and picked up his 11th save of the season. Los Angeles and Mets will continue their series tonight at Dodgers Stadium.
