Lakers Looking To Add Brian Shaw To Coaching Staff
- Updated: May 5, 2016
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton is looking to add former Denver Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw as an assistant on his staff.
Below is an excerpt of Wojnarowski’s article. You can check out the full article here.
“New head coach Luke Walton is starting to construct his coaching staff, and the most prominent on his short list of candidates is Brian Shaw, league sources said.”
Shaw was a part of the staff led by Phil Jackson when Walton was a player and received strong endorsements from Kobe Bryant when Jackson left coaching.
Shaw also played for the Lakers and won three championships with the club as a player and two as a coach. He went on to be an assistant coach with Frank Vogel in Indiana before becoming the head coach of the Denver Nuggets.
In Denver Shaw replaced the highly successful George Karl and things didn’t pan out the way fans would have liked. I think Shaw would welcome a return to Los Angeles and the sidelines. He has been seen on T.V. doing some analyst work from time to time.
