- Updated: May 12, 2016
After a 8-1 defeat in game one of the series, the Angels tried to bounce back but only to lose 5-2. In the first game, we witnessed Matt Carpenter, who hit two homers and in this game we watched Jamie Garcia take command of this game.
Angels starter Matt Shoemaker (L,1-5), had another rough outing against a very strong offense. Shoemaker’s numbers wasn’t very nice, he only managed to complete four innings, giving up seven hits and four earned runs. This was the third straight start, that Shoemaker has struggled to complete five full innings.
The team scored it’s only runs on a C.J. Cron homer, in the bottom of the fourth inning. The homer was on the first-pitch, which cleared the centerfield wall, which scored Albert Pujols.
HALOS DUGOUT:
The teams had some adjustments in the past few days, after the major injury to shortstop Andrelton Simmons, the short-term answer right now is Brendan Ryan at short, who was acquired in from Washington. The team is still trying to survive their biggest enemy, the injury bug.
ANGELS ON DECK:
The Angels (13-20), and the St. Louis Cardinals will conclude their series tonight. The team will be looking to take the final game and end a five-game losing streak. Jered Weaver (3-1, 4.72 ERA), will take the mound to help end this skid. He will be opposed by the Cards ace Adam Wainwright (2-3, 6.30 ERA). The Halo’s now in last place in the American League West, 7.5 games behind the Seattle Mariners.
