Galaxy Draw Sporting KC A Cole Down
- Updated: May 3, 2016
Having never been to a LA Galaxy away game before, knowing what to expect can be daunting. Will the home crowd be welcoming or hostile towards visitors clouding up their ears with Galaxy screams? Will there be other Galaxy fans there?
It didn’t take long Saturday to figure out the answers to all possible fears entering Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. The experience couldn’t have been better.
Sitting in the very first row of what was listed as the visitors section when purchasing tickets, all that could be seen was blue. From the Sporting KC fan group on the other side of the stadium known as “The Blue Hell” to the familiar, slightly less populated but just as loud, navy and gold Galaxy supporters “The Angel City Brigade” this place was loud and the view was perfect.
Now the only question was, who would the Galaxy be trotting out to try and get the club’s third consecutive victory? With Robbie Keane already out, the many Steven Gerrard fans in Liverpool red around the park would be disappointed with who else wouldn’t see the pitch on Sunday evening.

Nothing though would slow the Galaxy supporters sitting near the back of the so called “visitors section”, the ACB as their known was loud and Galaxy proud ALL GAME LONG. It was clear from kickoff they were not going to stop cheering and chanting on the visitors and it certainly helped other Galaxy fans feel more comfortable about chiming in. The occasional glance back at the crew in navy and gold from a Kansas City supporter that expected nothing but Sporting songs all night was a welcomed reminder that LA has some of the best fans in the game no matter where it’s played and they certainly played their part.
Some keys to take away from Sunday night’s matchup:
- Brad Davis has a hell of a left foot and if you give him any room, you might end up letting in a goal of the week.

- After one yellow card maybe try to avoid another for at least 30 seconds Ashley.

After going down a man in the 70th minute it was going to be unbelievably difficult for the Galaxy to try and get out a win away from home. Not to mention the club wasn’t exactly shooting the lights out. Each team had only one shot on target and the Galaxy only managed 4 shots in total. They had 5 goals in the previous game.
Overall the Galaxy will take this draw and move forward. The club is currently sitting 4th in the West with 15 points.
Next Los Angeles will head back to Stub Hub Center on Sunday to take on the New England Revolution at 12:30 PM PST on ESPN.
Thank you very much for all of you that followed along on twitter during the game and thanks again to ACB for being awesome Galaxy fans throughout the whole game!
