Jared Goff Ready To Get Down To Business

The last 48 hours of Jared Goff’s life have been a whirlwind (two days into his career as an NFL quarterback.) Just over four months removed since his last game for Cal, Goff has been thrust onto the scene of Los Angeles where he will attempt to live up to the expectations of being worth the first overall selection. Despite having gained only three hours of sleep Goff remained composed maintaining a smile seemingly fit for Hollywood.

“I want to come and work hard and see what happens,” Goff said. “I want to play as well as I can but at the same time too, I want to prove myself. I want to be held to a high standard on and off the field and in the weight room. Expect that to stay the same as I start my NFL career.”

Goff a native of Novato, Calif  located 48 miles will now try to make the transition from north to south. He once sent out a tweet three years hoping his favorite team the San Francisco Giants would try to hit Yasiel Puig in the ribs. Upon arrival to Los Angeles, Puig offered to take Goff for a night out on the town.

“I thought it was really cool for him to reach out to me,” Goff said. “I will definitely take him up on the offer later in the summer.”

All joking aside Goff will now be competing for the starting job against Sean Mannion and Case Keenum. The Rams are reportedly opened to trading Nick Foles and have been in negotiations with teams since trading for the first overall pick.

“This is a huge dream come true for me to be here,” Goff said. “I still can’t put in the words what it means and the whole experience has been surreal. The long eight minutes and getting that phone call but I know that with being the #1 pick also comes great responsibility.”

Jim Everett who played quarterback for the Rams from 1986-93 talked with Goff and was impressed with his level maturity.

“From being around him, he is calm and he is collected,” Everett said. “I think every year we have seen improvement from him and we have to remember he is only 21 years old. There’s a lot of time for this kid to grow up and I like what I see and what I hear from him.”

Time will only tell whether the Rams investment in Goff was worth it and if the early reviews turn into a bust in the box office. For Goff the reality star life seems to be over and no one seemed for anxious then the player who will be wearing number 16 this season.

“I am ready to just get back to playing football,” Goff said. “This has been a long interview process. Like I said, I am ready to just get back to playing football and just being a teammate and being with the guys again.”
