The Portland Trail Blazers scored 37 points in the fourth quarter and was too much for the Los Angeles Clippers to overcome in game five. Portland won by a score 108-98 and the Clippers now trail the series 3-2 heading to Portland for game 6.

Los Angeles played their first game without Chris Paul and Blake Griffin for the first time since 2013. Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford started in place of the two injured stars with Paul Pierce, DeAndre Jordan, and J.J. Redick rounding out the rest of the lineup.

Redick led the way in scoring for the Clippers. He scored 19 points, Crawford added 16, and Rivers scored 13 points. Jordan had a strong game without his frontcourt mate. He scored 16 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.

Off the bench Cole Aldrich scored 11 points, and Jeff Green played well added 17 points and 6 rebounds. Wesley Johnson chipped in 5 points and 5 rebounds.

On the other side the Blazers backcourt came alive in the second half. C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard both had quite first halfs but exploded for 27 and 22 points respectively.

Moe Harkless continued to have a strong playoff series as he had a double-double. He scored 19 points to go along with 10 rebounds.

Mason Plumlee came to play. He had 10 points and 15 rebounds. Off the bench Allen Crabbe and Gerald Henderson each reached double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.

The big difference in last night’s contest was the three point shot. Portland connected on 12 threes compared to the Clippers 6 and they outrebounded Los Angeles by 8 and was too much for the decimated Clippers to overcome.

Los Angeles will try to extend the series to seven games with a win on Friday night.
