Blake Griffin Out For Remainder Of Season

Blake Griffin

Ever feel like that little kid that reaches for the cookie jar every day to try to get just one cookie before your Mom comes and swoops you away telling you not to spoil your dinner? If you’re a Clipper fan, this is a very familiar feeling.

Blake Griffin is officially out for the remainder of the 2016 NBA Playoffs after his quad injury returned against the Blazers in game 4 Monday night.

This news came on the heels of finding out Chris Paul had fractured his hand in the same contest.

How bad was that game 4 for the Clippers? The team lost a crucial playoff game and in comparison to the injuries that one loss was insignificant.

While Griffin’s injury doesn’t necessarily spell the end for the Clippers playoff hopes this season, the addition of his injury plus Paul’s does not make finding a way past the Blazers this series seem likely. Let’s not even get into Golden State next round if the team advances past this one.

After Paul’s injury Monday many were hoping Griffin, who has been injured most of the season with the same quad/hand injury, would be able to take over the Clippers and lead the team as far as possible. Sadly this will not even be a possibility after the Clippers forward was seen limping up and down the floor late in game 4.

Los Angeles will need a bench performance for the ages in order for the team to survive round one. Backups Jeff Green and Paul Pierce will likely be tasked to fill in for Griffin. Time to see if Pierce has any of that playoff magic left in the tank.

Game 5 is Wednesday night at 7 PM PST on NBATV.
