Philadelphia Phillies 2, San Diego Padres 1

The Philadelphia Phillies (4-5) have won game three of this four game series against the San Diego Padres (3-6) 2-1. With one game remaining in the series the Padres have a chance to even the score.

Phillies starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff (1-1, 1.50 ERA) W [7.0 IP, 4 Hits, 9 K’s] won his first game of the year against Padres pitcher Colin Rea (0-1, 5.56 ERA) L [7.0 IP, 5 Hits, 5 K’s, 1 ER]

Third baseman Maikel Franco hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. This gave Philadelphia an early 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the third inning Franco drove in the Phillies second run with an RBI double to center field.

Outfielder Odubel Herrera scored the second run of the game as the Phillies were up 2-0. In the top of the ninth inning San Diego was able to score a run to avoid being shutout. Phillies closer Jeanmar Gomez earned [SV 4] on the season.

At 10:05 PM PT game four of this series will begin. Padres starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz (1-0, 3.60 ERA) will face Phillies starter Vince Velasquez (1-0, 0.00 ERA)
