SuperCharger MVP: San Diego Chargers Week 15

It was a tough game by, both, the San Diego Chargers and the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon which would ultimately be won by the Broncos, 22-10.
Broncos’ quarterback, Peyton Manning, would come into the game with the flu and would have to battle his way through the game as multiple IVs had to be given to Manning all day.
Still, Manning battled his way like a hall-of-fame quarterback does and he would get the job done against the Chargers.
The inability for the Chargers to attack with a running game forced the Chargers to become a one-dimensional team by just throwing it through the air. For the day Philip Rivers would throw 41 times as compared to their starting running back, Branden Oliver, having just 12 carries.
The Chargers’ leading receiver for the day would be their reliable tight end, Antonio Gates, who had 6 receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown. The Chargers’ usual dual-threat at the receiver position, Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd, would combine for only 6 receptions for 54 yards (coincidentally, that’s what Gates did just by himself.)
The best play, from the Chargers, would come from their defense which has become a common theme for them in the past few weeks. Safety, Eric Weddle, led the team in tackles with 9 total tackles and 8 of them being solo tackles.
There is another player, however, on the Chargers’ defense, that contributed strongly to keeping the Chargers in for most of the game. Linebacker, Andrew Gachkar, who had 8 total tackles, 6 solo tackles, and also 2 tackles for loss.
Gachkar’s ability to contain the Broncos’ running game and even make plays in the Broncos’ backfield to force tough situations for the Manning-lead Denver offense, is what makes Gachkar our SuperCharger MVP of the week.
