- Updated: March 15, 2016
Everything went right for the LA Kings when they took on the Chicago Blackhawks in Chicago last night as they won by a score of 5-0.
Los Angeles started the game fast when Kris Versteeg scored a snap shot goal. Brayden McNabb and Luke Schenn were credited with the assists and the LA Kings held a 1-0 lead. 18 seconds later Milan Lucic scored a wrist goal that was assisted by the former Blackhawk Versteeg and Anze Kopitar and just like that the Kings led 2-0.
In the second period Vincent Lecavalier scored a wrist shot goal that pushed the lead to the 3-0. Trevor Lewis and Tanner Pearson were credited with the assists.
With Chicago in the whole they began to play a more aggressive style to try to get themselves back in the game but it opened them. Dustin Brown scored a backhanded goal that went unassisted.
Tyler Toffoli ended his goalless streak with a snap shot goal that was assisted by Schenn and the Kings won 5-0. For Jonathan Quick it was his 41st career shutout which is the most by an American-born goaltender in NHL history.
Los Angeles will take on the Dallas Stars tonight in Dallas on the second night of a back to back.
