Avs Shutout Ducks

The Colorado Avalanche shutout the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night 3-0. With the loss the Ducks have lost two in a row.

Colorado got the offense started in the first period when Nathan MacKinnon scored a wrist shot goal. His goal was assisted by Erik Johnson and Mikkel Boedker. Anaheim outshot Avs 12-10 in the period but couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities.

In the second period Andreas Martinsen scored a backhanded goal to push the lead to 2-0. His goal was assisted by Matt Duchene and Francois Beauchemin.

Shawn Matthias scored a wrist shot goal a minute and a half later. His goal was assisted by Carl Soderberg and Nick Holden and the Avs pushed the lead to 3-0. Again Anaheim outshot the Avs 13-10 but couldn’t put one in the net.

For the Ducks John Gibson made 23 saves fir a 89% save percentage. Semyon Varlamov got the shutout making 37 saves for a 100% save percentage.

With the loss the Ducks fall behind the Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific Division standings. They will take on the St. Louis Blues on Friday night.
