Kobe Bryant and Los Angeles Lakers will continue their road trip as they take on the Minnesota TimberWolves tonight. Bryant is just 8 points away from tying his mentor and idol Micheal Jordan on the all time scoring list.
The Lakers are coming off a big win against the defending NBA champions on ESPN on Friday night. Nick Young hit an unbelievable three pointer with 7.4 seconds that would serve to be the game winner.
Although this game will be a good one as the TimberWolves beat the Lakers last time out, all the attention will be focused on Bryant passing Jordan. Lakers head coach Byron Scott was a teammate of Bryant’s when he scored his first points. He spoke to ESPN.com about witnessing Bryant’s latest acheivement.
“From my standpoint and knowing Kobe like I do, I know he has an extreme amount of respect for MJ,” Scott said. “He’s probably the one guy Kobe wants to pass in a number of categories, and I think rings are one of them as well. I think for him, it will be very significant. It puts him in that category of the greatest players ever in this league.”
For the TimberWolves they are coming off a loss the Oklahoma City Thunder. What has been a struggle for the Wolves so far this season Flip Saunders talked to ESPN.com reporters about giving effort.
“I was happy we finally competed, but it took us a long time to really compete, which was disappointing,” Wolves coach Flip Saunders said.
The Lakers will look for their first three game winning streak tonight as he will be a tough one.
