Clippers Head To The Magic Kingdom
- Updated: February 5, 2016
The Los Angeles Clippers will begin their four game road trip tonight in the City Beautiful as they take on the Orlando Magic. Orlando received the news last night that second year man Aaron Gordon will be participating in the dunk contest next weekend.
Los Angeles comes into the game with a 32-17 record while the Magic sport a 21-27 record. Orlando has been struggling as of late losing 14 of their last 16 games.
Orlando is coming off a tough loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. Russell Westbrook recorded a triple-double and Kevin Durant scored 37 including a game winning three pointer that defeated Orlando’s spirits.
Victor Oladipo had his best game of the season scoring 37 points in the loss. Orlando is coached by former Magic player Scott Skiles as he is in his first year with the club.
They have been tinkering with the lineups as they have used many different starting groups throughout the season. Elfrid Payton mans the point and steps everything up with Oladipo at the two who looks to be improving every night.
Tobias Harris will play the small forward position after signing a 4-year 64 million dollar contract extension last summer. Gordon plays the four and is a very energetic player with Nikola Vucevic at the center spot.
Orlando brings Evan Fournier and Mario Henjoza off the bench to provide a scoring punch in the backcourt.
Veterans Channing Frye and Jason Smith provide stability of the bench. It will be a homecoming of sorts as fan favorite J.J. Redick will return to Orlando where he was drafted.
Doc Rivers and Austin Rivers have ties to Orlando as well. Doc coached the Magic at the beginning of his career and Austin is a celebrated high school legend.
It should be a great matchup tonight.
