Jordan, Clippers Bash Bulls 120-93

Jordan

In the second of the Clippers three game home stand the team would take on Jimmy Butler and the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls, third in the Eastern Conference coming into this game, have been playing some average basketball of late and have really struggled against potential playoff teams. DeAndre Jordan and the Clippers were able to take advantage of the Bulls recent poor play to help the team win 120-93.

In quarter number one the Bulls started off the game hot, jumping out to an early six point lead. Los Angeles would not let that lead grow however thanks to some great low post play from Jordan. Pulling in 12 rebounds in the first quarter alone, Jordan had a huge impact on glass in this one and this allowed the Clippers to hold of the Bulls from getting second chance opportunities. Wesley Johnson came in off the bench in this one and knocked in 8 points, helping the Clippers lead 24-22 at the end of one.

The second quarter was all about Jamal Crawford. Typical of his career, the two time sixth-man of the year showed great energy off the bench. Crawford would end the half with 12 points but his scoring would not have come as well as it did were it not for great ball movement for the team as a whole. The ball seemed to be whipping around the floor for Los Angeles as they just kept finding the open man. This is a very promising sign for the Clippers who have at times struggled moving the ball around the floor this season. Going into the halftime break the Clippers would hold a mall 51-47 lead, much of which was impacted by the Clipper bench outscoring the Bulls bench 29-11.

Jordan, Chris Paul and J.J. Redick would keep their foot on the throttle for Los Angeles in this one. Chicago cooled off while the Clipper heated up and Redick in particular was able to knock in some crucial shots for his club, despite a sure to be ESPN not top 10 layup miss but recovers in a way only he could.

Through three Redick would have 18 points while Jordan would have 17 rebounds and 13 points to help will the Clippers to a 84-73 lead.

Crawford got Los Angeles rolling into quarter number four as he took a great finish from the third quarter and turned it into a great start in the fourth scoring 10 straight points for his team. Crawford stayed on fire all quarter long and ended the night with 26 points off the bench.

Overall the fourth quarter was one where the Clippers looked like they had something to prove. Lob after lob to Jordan and amazing passing by everybody on the floor in a Clipper jersey led to ABC announcer Hubie Brown talking about how much fun it looked like Los Angeles was having out there throwing the ball to everyone and still scoring.

Jordan ended the night with 17 points, 20 rebounds and 4 blocks in what was a monster night. Chris Paul had 19 points and 7 assists while Redick had 21 points. Crawford wasn’t the only solid player off the bench for Los Angeles as Johnson ended the day with 11 and Austin Rivers ended with 16.

A great win for the Clippers in this one as they beat a top team in the East. The Clippers move to 32-16 after the win and will take on the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves in their next game on Wednesday at 7:30 on ESPN.
