We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Angeles.

The Los Angeles Angels acquired Josh Rutledge last night:

“According to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times the Los Angeles Angels have acquired Josh Rutledge.

The Angels parted ways with longtime second baseman Howie Kendrick earlier today in exchange for Andrew Henley. Josh Rutledge may be the replacement for Kendrick as he is listed as shortstop but can also play second base.

Rutledge played in 105 games last year and bat .269 with 16 doubles. The Angels did have to give up young pitching prosepct Jairo Diaz in the deal. He has been a back up to one of the best short stops in the league to Troy Tulowitzki.”

Are the Angels ready to trade C.J. Wilson:

“According to Jon Heyman of CBSsports.com the Los Angeles Angels are looking to move pitcher C.J. Wilson.

Heyman reported that Angels have made Wilson available, which could set up the Angels to make a bigger splash in free agency. With younger options like Max Scherzer and James Shields it would make sense for the Angels to try to shed Wilson’s contract.

Wilson is 34 years old and struggled last season. He posted a 13-10 record, but a 4.51 ERA. A major problem with Wilson is that he is allotted $38 million dollars over the next 2 seasons.

With the amount of pitchers available on the market, it may be hard for the Angels to move him, but if they can they will be able to make a run at one of the big dogs.”
