Earlier today the Clippers acknowledged that Josh Smith wasn’t a good fit for their team and traded him back to the Houston Rockets. With the roster spot available Doc Rivers figured he would give Ayres a chance to prove himself at the NBA level.
Ayres is a former first round pick of the Sacramento Kings in the 2009 NBA Draft. He has spent time with the Portland Trailblazers, Indiana Pacers, and San Antonio Spurs winning a title with San Antonio.
Ayres will have a chance to prove his worth with Blake Griffin out due to injury. It will be interesting to see how much time Ayres actually gets over the next 10 days.
