Angels and Garrett Richards agree on new deal, avoids arbitration

@Alden_Gonzalez

On Thursday afternoon, the Los Angeles Angels and their star pitcher Garrett Richards agreed to a one-year deal worth 6.245-million, to avoid the two sides heading into arbitration.

Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reported the news.

This figure is a halfway point for the two sides, Richards wanted 7 million, and the Angels were offering only 5 million, with the two sides meeting in at this middle point.

Richards, 27, is entering his sixth season with the Angels, and has posted a career-high last season in wins with 15, to lead the team in this category. The right-hander earned Cy Young votes and had a decent season, until injuries forced him to missed several starts.

With Richards under contract for this season, the Angles next project is to get Kole Calhoun signed for the season. Calhoun is the only player left that is heading to arbitration, with the Angels.
