Both players made at least 500,000 last season but this is a significant move for the Padres. As both Pomeranz, and Norris were teammates in the 2014 season when they were both with the Oakland Athletics.
This past 2015 season Drew Pomeranz went (5-6, 3.66 ERA) in 82 innings pitched and posted 82 strikeouts. Derek Norris played in 146 of 162 games for the San Diego Padres last season. While adding a (.250) batting average (14) home runs and (62) RBI’s.
Two important players still remain eligible for arbitration. Starting pitchers Tyson Ross (10-12, 3.26 ERA) and Andrew Cashner (6-16, 4.34 ERA) have yet to be signed by San Diego.
