First Period Dooms Ducks, Islands Win 5-2

The Anaheim Ducks continued their road trip when they took on the New York Islanders on Monday but fell 5-2. Anaheim will need to erase this from their memories as they play the New York Rangers tonight.
Things got off to a solid start for the Ducks. Carl Hagelin scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Andrew Cogliano and a gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead.
New York answered back when Cal Clutterbuck scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Thomas Hickey and Casey Cizikas. This tied the game at 1-1.
Travis Hamonic pushed a wrist shot past the goaltender that pushed the Islanders in front. His goal was assisted by John Tavares and Ryan Strome.
To add insult to injury Brock Nelson scored a wrist shot goal. His goal was assisted by Travers and Johnny Boychuk and after the first period the Ducks trailed 3-1.
Frederik Andersen was pulled after the period. He allowed 3 goals on 11 shots. John Gibson came for Andersen in the second period where no goals were scored.
In the third period Josh Manson scored a wrist shot goal that was assisted by Sami Vatanen and Ryan Getzlaf. This cut the lead to 3-2.
Josh Bailey answered back with a wrist shot goal. His goal was assisted by Anders Lee and pushed the lead to 4-2. Matt Martin scored an empty net goal in the final minutes of the game and the Ducks fell 5-2.
Up next for the Ducks is the New York Rangers tonight.
