Greinke is coming off a year in which he finished second in the Cy Young voting. The Orlando native is a former first round pick back in the 2002 MLB draft.
He has spent time with the Kansas Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, Dodgers, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Last season he had his best season of his career posting a 19-3 record with a 1.66 ERA.
He pitched over 220 innings and recorded 200 strikeouts. With the Dodgers already having Clayton Kershaw in the rotation it didn’t make sense to pay Greinke over 200 million dollars.
Reports have surfaced that the Dodgers are interested in Johnny Cueto from the Kansas City Royals. If they are able to get Cueto they will get a cheaper alternative to become their number two starter.
I think the Dodgers made the right decision in not paying someone over the age of 30 that much money. In years one and two of the contract Greinke will be great but father time is undefeated. Thanks for the memories Zack Greinke.
