John Gibson Gets Start Tonight

@Ducks54

According to Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register the Anaheim Ducks will start John Gibson in goal tonight.

Gibson is the primary backup for Frederick Andersen but with Andersen dealing with an injury Gibson has filled in. Chris Nichols of NHL Insiders reported some interesting information about the Ducks goalie situation.

 Gibson is a former second round pick of the 2011 NHL Draft. This year he was appeared in four games and has a 2-1 record with a .936 save percentage.

The Ducks will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight. I assume when Andersen is healthy Gibson will go back to his backup role. Gibson signed an extension with the club this summer and looks to be a part of the long term plan for Anaheim.

Anaheim has not started the way many people expected but have shown some life as of late. With this current homestand the Ducks need to protect home ice and a win tonight could help gain some momentum.

As more information surfaces on the Ducks we will keep you up to date.
