Carl Hagelin Shines, Ducks Win 4-1

The Anaheim Ducks began the road trip with a 4-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes thanks to Carl Hagelin and his outstanding performance.

The Ducks were coming off a 3 game losing streak and needed to get off to a strong start on the road tonight.

Anaheim got started in the first period with a tip-in goal from Shawn Horcoff. For Horcoff it was his third goal of the season. The goal was assisted by Hagelin and Andrew Cogliano. It was the Ducks who outshot the Hurricanes 5-4 and after the first the lead 1-0.

In the second  period the Hurricanes struck first. Noah Hanifin scored a slap shot goal to even things up. For Hanifin it was his first of the year. His goal was assisted and by Joakim Nordstrom and Justin Faulk.

Sami Vatanen answered back with a slapshot goal of his own later in the period. For Vatanen it was his fourth goal of the year. Ryan Getzlaf and Hagelin were credited with the assisted and the Ducks lead 2-1.

Heading into the third and final period the Ducks lead 2-1 when Hagelin scored his third point of the night with a wrap shot goal. It was Hagelin’s second goal of the year and was assisted by Horcoff and Cogliano.

Getzlaf scored a his first goal of the year, an empty net goal to seal the deal. His goal was assisted by Ryan Kesler and Jakob Silfverberg and Ducks won 4-1.

The Ducks will be at it again tomorrow night when they face the Nashville Predators. The puck will drop at 5:00 p.m. PST.
